Eccentric Exercises best for Elbow Rehab?

(An ‘Eccentric’ contraction is simply the controlled lengthening of a muscle against resistance – Picture the lowering of a dumbbell weight in a Biceps curl, for instance.)

Based on several medical studies, there’s definitely evidence to support the idea that performing eccentric muscle contractions may (in certain cases) be superior to concentric ones when it comes to tendon rehab.

A lot of the buzz seems to revolve around one particular study, though – A small, but apparently successful study…


A very small, but apparently successful study (in the short term, anyway) of Tennis Elbow sufferers who performed a specific eccentric exercise called the “Tyler Twist” involving a rubber bar, known as the “FlexBar.” Is ‘Eccentric Exercise’ really that much more effective in Tennis Elbow rehab?…
